4/23/2012 - MERCURY-2 APPRAISAL STRIKES WATER-BEARING SANDSTONES |
| Anadarko Petroleum’s Mercury-2 appraisal well, located approximately 7.5 miles northwest and approximately 1,300 ft. down dip of the Mercury discovery well, intersected more than 885 ft. of reservoir-quality sandstones in the targeted Cretaceous interval that were water bearing. The partnership plans to integrate the data from Mercury-2 into its model as it evaluates both the Mercury discovery and future drilling opportunities offshore Sierra Leone.
Mercury-2 was drilled to a total depth of 16,870 ft. in water depths of approximately 5,950 FSW (1,815 MSW).
Anadarko operates the offshore Block SL-07B-11 with a 55% working interest. Co-owners in the block are Repsol (25%) and Tullow (20%). |
